Research Interests
Educational Technology
If you can plug it in and it lights up I'm interested in knowing what it can do for education, from mobile phones to virtual reality devices and everything in between research equals experimentation and play and I just love trying it out. Hybrid learning, blended learning, online learning, flipped classrooms... Social Justice I grew up in Iqaluit, and in addition to Canada have worked in Ghana, Oman, Spain and Germany. These experiences made discussing social justice issues not just a research interest but an important part of who I am. I am passionate about Open Education, Access, Indigenous Pedagogy. Sustainability Living and working immersed in technology my life needs a little balance! Environmental Education, Outdoor classrooms, re-connecting youth (and myself) with the natural world through science education, yoga in schools and fostering creativity and innovation in ways that encourage healthy development. |

I joined Cape Breton University in July 2014, after three years of learning and working in western Canada. I concurrently completed my doctoral studies at the University of Calgary as a distance student while working as an Instructional Designer at the University of Manitoba. Prior to this I was a K-12 school administrator and teacher for ten years. A nomad by nature I spent those years living in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. I completed my Masters of Arts in teaching and learning at the University of Bath, England and my undergraduate studies in the form of a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Prince Edward Island.
